It really is about lifestyle changes - here is what I learned yesterday when I went to a Chinese Buffet

I've been slowly working on making changes. The big ones: no more pop (but if I have one, diet instead). Instead of cutting out sweets entirely, I treat it as a treat and have one. In the past, I've always gone crazy and said "only healthy foods" and for obvious reasons I would crash and burn.

Yesterday my husband wanted to try a Chinese Restaurant and I was apprehensive. Limitless food, fried everything. I was very slow with picking the food I put on my plate. When I went for the mongolian beef, before I would have tried to only get the beef and got a huge serving. This time I made sure I got a mix of veggies and beef. The bell pepper was SO GOOD. It was a reasonable amount on my plate.

I'm sure I ate most of my calories for the day, if not more than I needed, at that buffet. The real win? We had that lunch around 1pm. I was full the rest of the day and when I started to get a bit hungry last night, I ate an apple (YES A FUCKING APPLE NOT A WHOLE BOWL OF ICECREAM, SEVERAL COOKIES AND WHATEVER ELSE I COULD FIND!!!!!). Normally, I would have thought to myself "Damn, I blew it already, I might as well enjoy falling off the wagon" and then I'd hate myself for a month and try to start all over again.

Never again. Sustainable, small changes. Slow and steady, I'm going to win this race.
