The wagon is easy to fall off and hard to climb back onto
I started my weight loss journey last October. I was very motivated, tracked everything I ate, took up walking and a bit of swimming. Five months later I'd lost 11 kg (24 pounds). I was over a third of the way to my goal, I'd dropped a dress size or two and I was feeling great. Then I got complacent. I hated seeing that red negative number pop up on MFP tracker, this meant an untracked cookie here, a beer there, an entire packet of lollies in one sitting with no trace of it on MFP. Suddenly I was only tracking lunch, dinner and snacks up to my calorie goal (1200). Everything else was open slather, if I didn't track it, it doesn't count right?
I'd stopped my weekly weigh ins because I knew I wouldn't be losing, but I couldn't stop my snacking. After about 2 months of this nonsense, on Wednesday night, I decided enough was enough, I tracked everything I'd eaten that day and it was 2114 calories. Well, damn. That was enough to make me cry. I got on the scales the next day and was surprised to find I'd only gained 1 kg in those 2 months. I was very aware that I could have LOST almost 5kg in the same amount of time if I'd had some self control. It was the wake up call I needed so I'm here for my Weightloss Journey Part Deux: Electric Boogaloo. I'm going develop some self control and be honest with myself and with MFP. I've also upped my calorie goal on MFP to 1300. I'll still aim for 1200 but now if something is 50 calories over, I'll be more likely to log it knowing those red numbers won't pop up.
How did you guys get back on the wagon after a trip, stumble or stage dive off it?
