I made the most amazing sausage and cabbage dish!
Full disclaimer, I was baked when I conceived this (very basic and classic combo, so anyone could’ve come up with it) recipe, but it turned out fantastic!
Also, it is important that you follow certain steps. Cooking things in a certain order for a specified length of time creates a lot of flavor in the pan with just a few, basic ingredients.
Sausage and cabbage: (I made just one portion of this, so I’m estimating to make a family dinner)
1 lbs Polska Kielbasa, cut into thin circles 2 bags coleslaw cabbage (this is the iffy part for me— add how much you want, but know that it shrinks dramatically as it cooks down) 1/2 smallish onion, diced 1/2 stick of butter 1 tsp garlic, minced S&P to taste
Melt butter in a wok or large frying pan. Sauté onions for 15-20 minutes on medium heat, until they start to caramelize. Add garlic, stir until fragrant. Add sausage, and cook until it gets browned a little, add s&p. Make sure there’s still plenty of melted butter in the pan. If there isn’t, add a few more tbsps. Add cabbage in, and stir until it’s all evenly coated in the butter. Cook, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is well cooked and really soft and limp, about 20 min. It is so, so, so dang good! I’ll make more tomorrow and post a picture.
