The (Vego) Keto Diaries: Intro
11/01/2019
Weight: 69kg
Height: 172cm
After a 2018 filled with travelling, which really means eating and drinking, the new year calls for a health kick (how original). I am not fat by any means but I have been feeling less confident in my own skin than ever before. I would love to get to a place where I am happy and confident with the way I look and feel.
I am not the kind of person that would ever go on a diet, until now. I am pretty good at maintaining my weight and it never really fluctuates. For the first time in a long time, I have gained weight in a short period of time. For this reason I want to quickly burn fat, and I know once I have lost a few kgs that I will be able to maintain it. I have decided to do the Ketogenic diet as I have seen it work wonders for people around me, including my brother, who I have been using as a valuable information source. The only issue is that I am vegetarian. So while my brother has a strong knowledge of everything Keto, there are some things I need to find out for myself.
I have decided to diarise my journey via the blog, to make me feel more accountable (hi, I’ve never been on a diet before and I have a feeling I’m not going to be very good at this).
The first thing I have done to begin my journey is download My Fitness Pal. This will allow me to enter my meals and track my daily nutrient content. My research isn’t exactly extensive, everything I have is either from google or from my brother.
Some basic Keto Rules:
- eat less than 35g carbs per day (yikes, good luck me)
- eat lots of low carb vegetables
- eat lots of high fat foods
In a few days I will pee on a stick to find out if my body is in Ketosis. Sounds riveting. I’ll post regularly; meals, weight, etc. Anything that I think is relevant, I’ll post.
Wish me luck!
