Does anyone find that maintenance breaks are necessary to break past a plateau?
Essentially if you're in a very long term deficit do you find it necessary to take a break when you start to plateau?
Lowering my goal is not an option as it is not conducive to lifting and would likely lead to binging. I ended up eating to just above maintenance last night due to uncharacteristic hunger. I decided to actually increase my goal to a 500 calorie deficit rather than 750, and now I'm wondering if I should eat to maintenance for a few more days before changing to the new goal. I've been off and on with a deficit for about 3-4 years, cycling between deficit and surplus due to medication induced binge eating. I have been mostly at a deficit done late November but I've stalled pretty much since January. I'll definitely be keeping to the smaller deficit though just for the sake of possibly improving my lifts but from personal experience does anyone recommend the diet break?
