How has calorie counting helped you?

How does calorie counting help to you? And I’m not necessarily even talking about just losing weight or even gaining weight. How is it helps you mentally? How does it help to you physically? How if you been able to accomplish new things? How is your life changed? I have begun this journey once more. Once I used calories as a tool to hurt and hate upon myself. Now I’m trying to use it to ensure I eat enough, while also losing weight in an extremely healthy way. I have been trying to heal my relationship with not only myself, but also with my relationship food. How is your relationship with food change? Maybe I am just being nosy, maybe I just feel a little need for some motivation. I want to hear your reasons and the positivity that calorie counting has given you. I want to hear all your stories.
