When do you guys pick your 'start' weight?

Looking at my fitness pal entries, I have entries from 2016 putting me at 298 pounds, then some 2018 at 295-290 back and forth.

at one point near the end of 2018 I told myself instead of waiting for new years resolution I would simply stop doing things that I know are bad for my health (drinking tons of sugars, eat tons of sweet foods, etc etc etc) At this point I had no idea what I was at, I just drank more water, and moderately ate "bad" food when out with family/friends events.

Then at the end of February 2019 my click happened and thus I went into get healthy mode. I found out my daily calories and started counting calories, mostly clean whole foods. I bought a new scale for kitchen and bathroom to weight myself and my foods, I started to walk more daily, drank a gallon of water a day and measure body / weight. Body measurements I do once at the start of every month and weight weekly sometimes every two weeks depending how I am feeling.

My point is, I had set up in all my apps my starting weight of 285 from which I officially started my plan... but I feel like I should also include my weight from years ago because that is who I was at my heaviest.

What do you guys do? am I cheating if I set my "start" weight at 298 pounds or is that acceptable?
