Noticed a mild NSV today! Supplement higher calorie favorite foods with some veggies or fruits on the side!
So today with my family, we made homemade pizzas! They were the kind with the premade Boboli crust, so they are a bit healthier, and you can make them to your specifications, so I opted for just cheese sauce and crust without any higher calorie toppings. There were four of us, and two crusts, so we each had a half of the pizza. I realized that it would be above my goals to have a full half, but I was hungry, and originally thought I would just eat the whole half. I ate a quarter at first, which is basically the equivalent of two small slices, still lower than delivery calories.
I was about to get up and eat the other quarter, but then I stopped. I decided, hey! How about I have some veggies first and see if I’m still hungry after that! There weren’t any other veggies in my meal, and it’s a good idea to have veggies at every meal, so why don’t I try that instead of going for a less-nutritious option? So I ate some fresh cherry tomatoes, and wow! I was satisfied! I realized I didn’t need or want the other quarter of the pizza! I didn’t go back and eat it anyways! The veggie side helped me to become more full, and made it easier to have responsible serving sizes of food! I stopped and made a logical and reasonable decision revolving food, and didn’t just fall back into old eating habits! I’m very proud of myself, and if I’m able to have this control over what I eat, even if there are slip ups, I think I’ll be able to do this!
Next time you want to have some comfort food or some high calorie favorites, try having some fruits or veggies on the side to make a more well rounded meal that may be and feel more satisfying! It may help curb the feeling of needing to binge on an unhealthy food choice, and help you to feel more control over your meals and food choices!
