If I eat at a 500 deficit below my TDEE, I'm under my BMR, is that okay?
20F, 5'7, 259 lbs & decreasing :D
My TDEE is 2373 right now, I just did it again today. My BMR is 1977. If I eat at a 500 deficit, my calories are 1873, and I was planning to go lower than 500, maybe like 750 (so 1623 cals) or even 1000 (1373).
I'm confused because I've heard so much about "don't go below your BMR it's dangerous" because "your metabolism will slow down" and all of that, but if I eat at a calorie deficit of 500 or more, I'm below it. Is this okay?
I'm having trouble picking a number to eat at every day, I've been bouncing between 1200 and 1400. At the beginning for like 2 weeks I ate below 1000; I think I was starting to have some disordered eating in there and I felt awful. I've also come to realise that it wasn't safe at all and I've upped my calories, but I haven't settled on a solid number for my intake.
