Lost 30lbs, thanks to this subreddit for helping me
Hi everyone! This is my first time posting, but I've been reading this subreddit for about 3 months now. I come here a few times a day to help me keep going. And I appreciate everyone sharing their stories/experiences and helping others move forward too. I owe a lot of my progress to all of you for being so supportive to each other, helping, and being realistic with everyone in such a respectful way :)
I started writing and it was so long! I wanted to share my whole history lol but it was way too long. So I'll shorten it. Weight was an issue throughout my uni life, was in a toxic relationship for about 10 years, family/home life was a bit negative too. My mom would make comments at times too--she didn't mean harm but it can get to you. I went to the doc Dec 2019 and weighed in at 184.5lbs! I am 5'3, 28 years old. That's obese. I was confident in my body--I'm curvy and I love it. I knew I wasn't healthy but I didn't think I weighed that much. Though clothes shopping I always hated. Anyway I only started getting serious about my health early March 2020. Started weighing everything, changing how and when I eat once my body got used to it. I made sure I didn't take away things I like (i.e. ice cream, chocolates, a timbit here and there etc.). I would eat in moderation, I made adjustments when I realised I was only eating because I was bored. I have the privilege to tell myself this food will be there later once I am healthy. I found recipes online by choosing a produce I wanted to use so that I would still enjoy eating and not be tempted by other food. Especially my mom's cooking! Sometimes I have a spoonful and I'm satisfied. I also work out at least 30min a day. I think what also helped is knowing I will never be skinny...what you see on instagram, magazines etc. I'm curvy and I love that I have a butt and boobs lol. My goal turned to being healthy, and have my mental health be better. Oh I also started going to therapy about 2 years ago due to some trauma coming up but it has helped overall with life. I also found someone who can relate culturally and it makes a world of a difference.
So 3 months later, I have officially lost 30lbs! I lost about 10lbs a month so far. Currently weighing in at 154.2lbs. My goal is 130lbs for now, but hoping to hit mid 120's. And then want to tone up, but for right now, let's be healthy.
Thank you again for everyone for the indirect support. It has helped me out so much and I will always be grateful.
