Idea that might be worth considering if you keep breaking your diet at the same weight because you are so hungry ...
So I broke my diet for three weeks because I was so hungry. I had lost close to 70 pounds, and I just started having an increasingly tough time of it. After I broke my diet, I went back and looked at the diet I was on years ago and found that I broke that diet at almost the exact same weight.
I have this theory that as we lose weight and our fat reserves get depleted, we actually at some point have to start eating more calories to continue losing weight, because we're getting less free fat from our fat reserves every day as we get smaller and our body still needs energy to run on. So what I did was the same diet I was on .. 1500 cal/day, except I just added 200 more calories to account for my new, smaller weight.
Result .. it's awesome. I'm back to being able to stay on my diet again, it's basically back to the way things felt when I first started losing weight back in March, when losing weight was easy and I really wasn't suffering very much. I'm now able to get through the day and be a little bit hungry on occasion, but not a continuous hunger that just doesn't go away.
So that's my thought .. if you keep getting down to the same weight and keep binging or breaking your diet, .. maybe up the calories a little to take the edge off and see if that gets you through.
I intend to keep monitoring my own diet over the next two months and then reevaluate, and if I am feeling really hungry again, I'm going to raise my calories up even more, I'm thinking maybe to 1900 cal/day which is still well below maintenance for me.
