Help with emotional eating?
Hello r/loseit
F/33/168cm/120kg (BMI ca 42).
I'd like to loose weight (and get healthier). However: even though I am a healthcare professional and feel quite sure about being able to count calories and weight food, and feel like I know enough about a diversity of possible diets and nutrition: I struggle.
I struggle with emotional eating: when I'm stressed (which is often) - I eat. Something bad happens at work: eat. Feel sad? Eat. Happy? Eat. Tired? Eat. Made a mistske? Binge. Ect.
The shift work (and therefor lack of daily routine or a sleep pattern) also doesn't help the eating or general feeling of well-being.
So far I've tried mindfullness, meditation (which help a bit; but I lack the training in those) and I'm trying to find a psychotherapist (they are overrun at the moment and I don't want to stand in the way of someone who is a danger to themselves or others).
Did you overcome emotional eating? How? What strategies or pointers can you give me? What helped, what didn't?
