I'm actually confused now; I'm gaining weight?
19 Male; 174 cm (5'7-5'8 feet) height; sedentary lifestyle (absolutely zero exercise)
So I have been following the 1200 calories a day and so far it has been successful at helping me lose at least ~0.5 kg (~1 pound) a day; which admittedly is quite a bit fast.
I was going to switch back to maintenance until I learned about my friend's plans to have a birthday feast and also my mother's birthday next, next week. So I thought to myself "I'll be eating a lot next, next week, I might as well lose a couple of kilos to make room for all my splurging" so I went back to doing the 1200 calories a day.
I've been doing so for the past week but I am surprised that I actually started to gain weight. Now I don't really follow an exact 1200 calories, but I am consuming somewhere in that amount.
Cereal for breakfast = ~500 calories; approx 400 calories for 100 grams and 100 calories for milk
4 Slices of wheat bread for lunch = ~300 calories; 150 calories for 1 serving of 2 slices
at least 100 grams of regular ol' steamed vegetables on a soup for dinner{just assorted greens, water, and salt, absolutely nothing else} = I just round out the vegetables to 100 calories since it's known that they don't really contain that much.
Give or take a few couple of hundred calories from my daily intake and I'm still on a huge deficit, yet I don't understand how I've went from 66.6 kg (146 pounds) to 67.9 kg (149 pounds) in a week despite this deficit. I have done the number 2 twice so far so I know it's not some poop weight. And I do drink water and urinate often, and I make sure to urinate before stepping on the scale to minimize any water weight.
I can't find any reason as to why I am gaining this weight. I am starting to think that the wheat bread is the culprit, as it is the first time I've tried eating this and coincidentally this is also the first time I've had this problem, but this is just my guess. I'm sure some of you in this subreddit are able to explain why.
