Upping the exercise, reducing “bad” food

I need to lose weight, I’m not one for fad diets so my theory is upping my activity levels by taking up running and reducing the “bad” foods. Lowering the sugar, fat and carbs. Firstly I assume this is the best approach.

Secondly the activity bit to me is simple, but I love my food, especially carbs so trying to reduce these will be my biggest issue. I love fish so happy to eat as much of this as I can, swap out the rice/pasta for more salads and stop the naughty desserts (not got a massive Sweet tooth so this won’t be difficult).

Drink wise I’m not worried, I drink black coffee, I already drink a lot of water and any fizzy/soda/pop (delete as appropriate for where I’m the world you are) is diet/zero. Not a big alcohol drinker and if I do it’s usually spirits

My biggest problem is snacks, especially as I am an emotional eater. Eating when bored is a big risk to me (but upping the activity might help with this).

Not sure if there is a question here (if there is any recommendations on lower carb snacks would always be appreciated) or just a motivator to myself.
