Every year Halloween is the start of a steady weight gain.
It's so easy to choose healthy options in the summer and early fall, there's so much focus on fresh produce and outdoor activities and moving your body. The moment Halloween rolls around is when it all goes downhill for me. I'll eat all the candy that the trick-or-treaters didn't take over the course of the next few weeks, then we roll right into Thanksgiving. Pies, desserts, leftovers for a week. Then it's Christmas season and you can just forget it. Cookies, candies, sweets and treats for a month straight. Before you know it, winters almost over and I've gained 15 pounds.
I'm terrified that this cycle will happen again. I've lost 50 pounds and have been maintaining for the last 6 months, but it's the week after Halloween and I've gained 3 pounds. I threw out the rest of my Halloween candy but I still feel like the cycle has already kicked off.
For the people who have been successful longer than me how on earth do you avoid the winter weight gain? How do you stay focused during holidays? How do I avoid what feels inevitable?
