Making progress

Hi everyone. I (27f) have a long history with trying to lose weight and I have been trying on and off for years. The problem is usually when I start I get discouraged. I have never really had family support and I often don't see the number on the scale move like I want it to.

This time is different. For the first time my fiance (29m) has decided he needed to diet to and together we are both making progress. My highest weight was 255lbs. I weighed in this morning at 241.1. I honestly think having my fiance doing it with me is making all the difference. We are able to support each other and keep each other on track.

My hopeful goal is to hit 220lbs before my birthday which is Jan 1st. But I my actual goal is to be below 230lbs. I really feel like this time is going to work and I couldn't be happier. My fear is that I hear about the plateau people hit and wondered if anyone had advice on how to push through that?
