How many of you lost weight in the weightroom?

I'm a strong believer in relying on your diet (Yes,that is my story. though I'm far from finished) for your fat loss goals rather than cardio/exercise. I believe the right reason to be doing cardio is for the general development of fitness.

I believe the weightroom is more relevant to us however than the treadmill,my reasoning is that fat beginners have the ability to gain muscle and lose fat at the same time, using their stored fat as fuel for the process instead of a caloric surplus. (People commonly call it "turning fat into muscle" and even though this is technically incorrect,it sorta feels that way. lol)

There's just way too much focus on cardio in mainstream advice about losing weight, and I feel it is a great disservice to us. It leads to people torturing themselves on the treadmill for hours instead of investing in finding a physical activity they actually enjoy.

I will soon start my weight lifting journey. But how many of you have gone on to do just this? How much weight/fat did you lose and how much strength did you gain? (I'd ask "how much muscle did you gain" but there's probably no way to know in this scenario, lol.)
