I haven't eaten potato chips in a good four or five months...I had some today, and I realized that it was causing major anxiety.

My mind is really blown right now, so I just had to share. I'm trying to work on my eating habits slowly, as going too quickly has often resulted in my plans backfiring. One thing I was able to cut out relatively quickly was potato chips.

My mental health was absolute trash before I decided to switch jobs, exercise a little more, start therapy, and work on my eating habits, and I'm proud to say I'm at a MUCH more stable place now a days.

All that said, we made homemade burgers the other night, and my husband chose to buy BBQ chips for the side. I ate a small amount, so I didn't really notice any changes in my mentality, but today I had enough extra calories to indulge a bit. I had probably two or three servings worth of chips, and an hour later I noticed a sensation of anxiety that I havent felt for months; an underlying anxiety that had no rhyme or reason.

It really shocked me; I have heard about gut health contributing to mental health, but I never would have guessed that two or three portions of chips alone could send me to such a bad place again within an hour!

It gives me a new kind of purpose with my weight loss; I hope to further my mental health success with therapy AND gut health.
