1st day at the gym... and a switch to maintenance?
Today was my first real day at the gym with an induction by a really great trainer. He was showing my the ropes, gauging my current performance and is setting up a plan for me. He was incredibly supportive and impressed with my weight loss and we spent a good half hour showing each other our fitbit data's :)
So excited to start on the plan! He strongly suggested I stop being in a deficit and eat at maintenance at least, and maybe even 100-200 calories above with a minimum protein intake of 120g. I currently average about 90g so it should be doable, especially if I'm eating more. He suggested going 4x a week and reducing my cardio (I hike, swim, cycle and indoor row currently) which will be odd at first because I've built my fitness around cardio (with strength in there too but not as a prime focus). I'm in brand new territory here...
I'm only just in a healthy BMI at 135lbs 5'2F and was aiming for 125lbs. Should I commit to this fully now? Or should I ease in until I'm at goal? The transition to a different mindset will take some getting used to.
Current pic below. I still have arm, thigh and belly/hip fat I'm not happy about
