is this too much?

So I started really getting into exercising yesterday to lose weight and be healthier in general. I'm 16, 5'11, male and weigh 189 pounds. I did a 11km walk yesterday and realised I only burned about 600 calories but my new diet consists of 800 to 900 so today I walked 22km to burn 1000 calories but it seems like it was a bit too much and I probably won't be able to walk tomorrow lol, so I was wondering how do calorie deficits really work and how do I get one. If its not burn more than you eat then what is it?
