I (male) took a DEXA scan, techinician wrongly typed female
I am a 26M, I' started to focus on losing weight almost 4 weeks ago. I started at around 117 and now weight 111 KGs at 186 cm (or 6'1) . 3 days a week weight lifting and cycling to the gym and back, 2 days swimming + cycling to the gym and the other 2 days do some group sessions or hiking or some other form of exercise.
Anyway, as I have a huge deficit I am afraid of losing muscle mass so I am carefully monitoring my muscle mass and fat mass. Using 2 separate BIAs, I have around 28-29% body fat percentage. Also, my waist size in around 106cm.
However, I went today to get a DEXA scan but the technician wrongly typed me as female instead of male and my fat mass repoted was 37%.
My question is, does sex influence the DEXA scan results?? Should i ask them to redo the DEXA or are just the BIAs in the wrong?
Also attached 2 photos from today if that helps. Thanks!
