psychological aspect of weight loss

so, what I'm struggling with most is, are you ALWAYS doing well? as in keeping up with counting cals, working out, getting in the necessary nutrients, (maybe also fasting) etc etc.?? I have lost 20kg before and was able to keep the weight off for like 2-3 years at most but then the pandemic came and my mental health has never been as bad and so I gained quite a bit back- around half of it.

Now i'm working on getting off the weight again but I tell you what, I don't remember fully how i did it back then. I know I counted cals, too, I just don't know for how long and how consistent; I blame my ptsd brain tho, my memories in general are wishywashy.

I've been doing relatively okay the past month, I count cals again, i walk 10k every other day, i go to to danceclass 2-3 times a week, I make sure i eat enough protein, vitamins, fiber etc and i journal. I don't think i've ever been this "strict" and have never done "this well" and yet i feel like it's not enough. I catch myself breaking my 20h fast every like-- third day, sometimes i go slightly over my cal limit.

I guess what I'm asking is, is this normal? I want to continue, I want to really lose the weight, but I don't "remember" how to do that anymore and have not been in this mindset for a while. I also always have this dread that if I don't do it well today, i lose all motiviation and fail entirely. I don't know for how long my discipline will let me keep going, if you get what I mean?

I try to forgive myself when I fail a day, I don't really punish myself, after either (which was a previous habit that i would do), I just keep going but there's always this lingering fear that all of this will one day go to vain because i fail once and this one fail, unlike the many other "small" ones will be a forever-fail.

let's have a chitchat? maybe hearing that i am not alone in this will help me move along? i don't know how to deal with this mentally.
