Sharing My Journey From 167 to 116 in 7 Months

Hello folks. Just wanted to share my results after 7 months of, wouldn't say dieting, but a lifestyle change. I went from 167 to 116, which is more or less my goal weight.

I used to be in pretty good shape when I was younger, but when I got into the workforce, I let everything go. When I first realized that there was an issue I was 165 pounds. I just felt sluggish, lacked energy and wanted to sleep a lot. I was diagnosed with “borderline diabetes” and really didn’t do much about it.

The downside of not addressing one’s weight and blood sugar is that these conditions will continue to get worse over time such as decreased sensation in your feet, losing a limb, developing kidney dysfunction and heart problems. All those things once they start developing are not reversible. I realized I’ve got to try to get healthier. I have kids to raise. So I would start on a treadmill, maybe walk for 20 minutes and I would be just beat.

However exercising was not the problem for me. For the longest time, whenever I tried dieting, I couldn't stick to it because no matter what diet I tried I felt hungry. I just couldn't cut down on portion sizes or eat greens. My brother referred me to a nutritionist. I was always skeptical of them, but they really opened my eyes and showed me that I was eating wrong my entire life. The reason I wasn’t overweight when I was in my teens was solely because of my fast metabolism, but as you get older it catches up to you.

The best advice I could give to anyone trying to lose weight is this - if you tried things yourself and you don’t see results, just work with a professional. Whether it’s your local gym trainer or nutritionist I really think they are worth it and will literally save you years of hard work.

Anyway, If anyone has a question, please feel free to ask.
