Weighed myself for the first time in months before a physical...

Male, 27. Started my weight loss at the start of 2017, weighed 255lbs. Going back to a doctor soon now that I finally have health insurance again with my new job. I stepped on a scale the other day for only the second time since changing my lifestyle:

I didn't think I could ever do this. One of the proudest moments of my life, I felt totally overwhelmed when I saw my weight, I honestly tried my best not to cry. I feel weird admitting that. I confirmed on a different scale too because I was totally shocked.

While everyone has a totally different metabolism, I was amazed how much diet vs exercise factored in. For me, calorie counting, cutting all extra sugar, and adding an abundance of protein and vegetables is where I saw most of my weight loss. I excercised by running/walking a few miles once a week, then increased to every few days along with some push-ups, sit-ups and some light weight lifting too keep myself from losing too much muscle mass.

I didn't go strictly Keto, but I couldn't recommend it or a similar diet enough if you can sustain while staying healthy and safe.
