Does not eating get easier?

So around January I weighed about 240 pounds and I hit a bit of a panic attack and decided to make a change. I cut out a long running tradition of raiding the refrigerator for a second dinner of left overs most nights and I often felt at around 1AM I was dying of starvation; by the beginning of Summer I had lost bit of weight but I wasn't really seeing the amazing results I was hoping for; I lost a handful of pounds but plateaued in the high 230s. So I asked my sister for help and got her to portion my meals based on what she would eat, I thought it'd be the hardest thing in the world since I was going from eating as much as my dad, a hard working man with a hard working man's appetite, to eating as much as my Sister who's on the the lower lower end of healthy weights for girls.

And yet when she started cutting my meals pretty much in half I never actually had that same "i'm dying!" feeling, I felt a bit uneasy about how full I was when I was finished but after about 20 minutes when I wasn't really focusing on it I felt fine.. and now for the first time in my life I'm not medically obese anymore. Is my stomach shrinking or was it nerves all along making me feel the need to eat massive portions?
