I stopped drinking to lose weight & now I feel like I've lost my friends. Anyone relate?

I just have to vent, and hope that someone out there is in the same situation as me, or has been and can offer some support!

For TWO YEARS my SO and I have been working to lose weight. We both have about 15kgs to lose. We're amazing Monday-Friday, we religiously go to the gym, track our calories with MFP, we do everything correctly... and then Friday evenings at 5pm ON THE DOT some weeks, one of our friends will text us and ask if we can join them for drinks. One drink turns into more drinks, which turns into us grabbing takeaways for dinner, then more drinks, then shots, then we end up at McDonalds on the way home. The next day is an absolute write off, beginning with KFC and followed with god knows what other takeaways/junk to nurse our hangovers.

I realised that this was a vicious cycle undermining our weightloss efforts. Not only that, it just wasn't rewarding or fun anymore getting so drunk and written off like clockwork every week! I began to resent it and absolutely hate it. My SO agreed. So we stopped accepting the invites and cut WAY back on our drinking. Ever since it feels like our friendship has changed and it's just not the same...

We have tried suggesting non-drinking activities, and they just seem to be SO unengaged the entire time. E.g. we suggested they come over for dinner, they didn't make any effort to make conversation, they TOTALLY avoid asking us anything about our workouts/fitness/weightloss efforts and they're just so different and non-energetic around us.

Can anyone relate to this? How did you get through it?
