"No pointless food."

Just a little mantra I've been using for the past week or so. I lost 40lb, have managed to mostly keep it off for 4 years, but with the calorie counting always comes "well, I can sneak this one thing," or "I'll log it," or "it fits into my calories, so I'm fine," only to find myself going over at the end of the day because I've missed out on important nutritional value by replacing a nutritionally complete snack with 200 calories worth of fun sized Hershey bars.

So, my new mantra is "no pointless food." If it doesn't do anything for me nutritionally, I'm not eating it, even if it looks great. It's been helping me -- I wanted to share in case it could help someone else here.

It should probably be "one pointless food," since I still have dessert every night, but it's a lot easier to balance 1/2 cup of ice cream than 1/2 cup of ice cream, 1 slice of coffee cake, 10 pieces of chocolate, 3 cups of buttered popcorn...
