SV: 💯 lbs in ~200 days (link to picture)

My journey started this time with peer pressure to join a fitness challenge at work. I have wanted to lose weight but am and have been embarrassed to join something so public.

After finally agreeing and putting in my entry fee for the prizes at the end of the 10 week challenge we had to do a weigh in... .. the number was as private as possible with you getting to weigh in and have only the executive and their admin witness the number on the scale and record it.. well again embarrassed I put my weigh in off till the very last time slot. Stepped on the scale and get the big fat "E"... Tried again and same result.. we were complexed till we notice the scale only went up to 330lbs I tried to back out of the competition as I didn't want to be a problem but instead they ordered a brand new scale that went up to 450.. so now at this point I had to do it as the company or more likely my boss put personal money into it so I could be included... Got my weigh in done a few days later which was actually about a week into the year and it was 340..

I started by downloading MyFitnessPal and linking my pebble up to Google health. With CICO on my side I started getting to work an hour early and walking the halls.. luckly a loop around the inside of the building is almost a quarter of a mile so rain or shine or mostly snow I was able to get a couple miles in every morning... The pounds started to drop and I started to feel better and changed my lunch to a sandwich or a wrap and started to walk for my hour lunch also... This is where the first roadbock started... Comments and whispers from people as I passed about what an hour of walking inside would really do and the laughing half hearted comments of "encouragement" made me want to stop.. I was again just that fat guy everyone laughs at or expects to close down the all you can eat buffet ... I started to drink heavily again (still tracked it just stopped eatting breakfast and lunch to save calories... Not really a win but it did help continue to lose some weight)....

My wife was and is very supportive and it is most likely her doing that got me through that and the fact that winter finally gave up and let me walk outside away from the comments. It also helped that my second child was born and I wanted to be around for him and I never wanted him to see his father as fat. I had this goal for my daughter when she was born and I went from 350 down to 290 but just stopped caring when work exploded and I somehow told myself that I had this under control and I could stop tracking...

When the contest finally ended I started hearing comments around the old water cooler about who may have won and yadda yadda.. when asked who I thought won I actually stepped up and said myself and again small Snickers and the sure whatever I mean Steve over here is doing blah blah diet and baught this fancy do hickey and so on... When the numbers where released the group of 20 had lost a total of 102 pounds.. everyone at the point turned and looked at my funny as I actually LOL'ed a little. When they announced I had won and with a total of 53lbs people just when from slightly annoyed that I laughed and went to shock.

Now the comments have stopped well the negative and sarcastic ones... Now I see most of the group walking through out the day.

The rest of my family was also on the sure what ever band wagon as they have seen me do it before but after that they also have started walking and we all got FitBits to start challenging ourselves. We even signed up for a 5k fun run.. ... My daughter beat me ... (stupid stroller I should have turned around and ran backwards)

Well enough is enough of this rambling basically the journey is still on going and just remember you can do it if I can. And here is to trying to make sure this is the last try and i can keep it off.

No shirt so sorry ;)
