Needing to feel full to go to bed ??

For some reason I have been needing to feel full in order to fall asleep. When I go to bed, I am satisfied not hungry and not full, just feeling content. Then I can really fall asleep or I half fall a sleep and then get up an hour or so later and eat a few pieces of pineapple and/or a little peanut butter. I feel like it is making me gain weight. I am afraid to step on the scale to see. But as soon as I have the pineapple, I feel more tired and ready for sleep. I am not sure what is going on here. I used to be able to fall asleep fine. But now it seems that I need to actually feel full :( Anyone else experience this?
