2018 is drawing to a close, and I think it might have been the year that saved my life. (X-post with /r/keto)

6'8", 33 years old, SW: 436, GW: 265, CW 286.

I started the keto diet in 2018 on January 12th after I had my first panic attack ever while trying to sleep. I eventually found out it was due to the blood pressure medication my doctor had put me on, but it lit a fire under me that I've never once cheated on.

Progress picture from my Insta

As of this morning, I've lost 150 lbs.! I'm still 20 pounds away from where I want to be, at a solid 265, and I'll get there eventually.

I say 436, because the doctors visit 2 weeks prior weighed me there, but there was a period around 2011-2012 where I easily weighed more. Once, I got pulled into am office and denied the ability to donate plasma because they said they weren't sure the tables could support me. When I would weigh in at the doctors, the hand opposite of the nurse weighing me would try to find a handicap bar to push up on so it wouldn't be so embarrassing. At my work, when you exit the bathroom there is a big tinted window that I would always preemptively turn my head away from so I wouldn't see my reflection in it.

But then I started eating better, threw out my ridiculous eating habits and started over completely. And now, I'm in the best shape I've been in since high school basketball.

Thanks for all the support, /r/keto and /r/ketorecipes. You more than likely saved my life.
