[NSV] The closet cleaning!

So here I am, 7 months after I felt the “click” of I’M NOW READY TO DO THIS; and so now I’m 27 lbs lighter.

At 5’9” and I think 157 lbs, I’m within 10 lbs of my goal weight, so I’m at that point where progress has just been really slow. My body has been really insisting upon its hunger, much more than it had when I was heavier. The day in, day out of calorie deficit was....okay. It was do-able but I was kinda stagnating. Some days over, some days under, and just kinda going along. Not out of control, but learning how to manage this new stage.

Happily, they FINALLY opened the long-delayed gym just down the street from my house...eliminating the 45 minute round trip...so now it’s body recomp time! Of course, that also makes the numbers on the scale stagnate, with muscle mass increase and retaining water after workouts, etc. It also makes my body insist even MORE on increasing calories, which I then have to decide when to deny and when to go ahead and feed myself a little more.

So there I was, just kinda stumbling along, happy with my workouts but the number on the scale has been stagnating.

Despite my merciless scale, this past week I started to notice that paper towel effect everyone talks about. I noticed much more face definition and slim tummy. Yeah!

Then this evening, I was watching YouTube and checking out this woman’s video about her loose skin and etc. She said something about shopping and can’t wear the sizes she used to.

For reasons not entirely clear to me, this provided the impetus to GET UP and finally try on all those pants heaped into the closet. Since I didn’t ever get into the obese range, I can still wear most of the old blouses, but the pants are another matter.

Now, I live in an old Craftsman style house, over 100 years old, so my “closet” is small anyway. Also, I have tended to frequent ladies’ clothing swaps, where you just kinda grab whatever seems to fit decently; so my sizes literally ranged from 8-14. So yeah, it’s clearly time.

Whoooo hooooo! I found myself some outfits where— The old me is back!! I haven’t looked this good in probably 15 years.

Yeah!! I actually look SLIM! I think I hadn’t noticed because I was habitually defaulting to the baggy old pants! And—I have this new tank top from my gym, and my arms are starting to get ripped! Oh my gosh!!! Even my triceps area has gotten a LOT better.

Funny thing: A lot of pants went into the donation pile, others into the tailor pile. The ones I kept still range from 8-14 (the 14’s being quite loose but some are still wearable with a belt).

If you are in the south end of Los Angeles County and want some women’s size 14-ish pants, from my donation pile, send me a PM!

Also, if you’re struggling a bit near the end of the journey—KEEP GOING! The paper towel effect is TOTALLY worth it. Oh my gosh, I’ve never had this before. It feels SO MUCH BETTER to be in a lighter body. (I’m planning to stop around the middle of my BMI range, but I might be a bit heavier than that because now I have a lot of muscle, which is good!)

Keep going, LoseIt! Don’t ever give up! If you stick with it and figure out how to navigate each stage of your individual journey, there are rewards waiting. :)
