Thanks to loseit and my trainer, I didn't gain during my vacation to New Orleans
I spent last week in the Big Easy, eating crawfish po boys, bread pudding, pecan pie, almond croissants, and muffelettas. I drank cappucinos and Smoothie King smoothies (am allergic to alcohol). I also ate fried chicken, jambalaya, and red rice and beans. I made sure to drink my water.
I gained only .8 pounds, which is really just water weight from the salty food that will go away in a day or two, I am confident. In fact, I can't be sure I didn't actually lose while I was there from all the walking. I should know in a couple of days!
Because of loseit, I found out about the TDEE calculator, which estimated that I could eat up to 2200 calories a day without gaining weight. Because I had extra calories to play with, I basically ate sensible breakfast and a second meal of anything I wanted with a sweet treat and coffee in the middle of the day. Some days I ate 1800 calories, some days more like 2500. Every day I logged in a minimum of 15000 steps from the walking around, forgoing the trolley on short jaunts, and I did strength training at the gym a couple of mornings before my family, who are late risers, got up. So I burned off more than usual. I logged all my food, and tried my best to match it up in the MFP app.
My personal trainer at the Y said that its much better to have a good time on vacation then to think you're going to stick to a diet and then blow all caution into the wind and have a binge.
I found I really missed the fruits and vegetables I tend to eat mostly at home.
There were times I have been skeptical about CICO but my vacation proves to me that it really works. Maybe I'll be logging in calories for the rest of my life, and frankly, that wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Because it works.
