“The holidays are the best time to start new habits.”

This was said by a customer at my work after I said the holidays were an eating and drinking fest. She was a super in shape, middle-aged women, and even though she said it lightly, its really sticking with me.

I previously lost over 40 pounds, and got so close to my goal of 50! Then I decided to “take the holidays off” 2 years ago, never really got back on track, and slowly gained back 10 pounds. I have been maintaining at 160ish now for the past year. It’s been really mentally draining because I want to be in the at 150 again because I LOVED how I looked and felt! Now I feel like I’m 50 pounds heavier even though it’s only really 10.

I had written off December and decided to stop trying to lose weight, since I have final exams, Christmas, holiday parties, and a trip to Vegas for New Years all coming up. But after her comment, I’m feeling different. Motivated again. Because if I can maintain CICO during the holidays, I can do it ANY TIME!

So I’m going to calculate my TDEE again. Then, I’m going out to buy a pretty calendar. I’m going to mark down my calorie goals for each day on it, depending on events and whatnot, just like I used to. I’m going to start religiously tracking again. I’m going to take a few DAYS off, being Christmas and New Years, but not the entire month. And no matter what happens, I’m going to tracktracktracktracktrack. I’m going to build these habits up again right NOW, during the most difficult time of there, so that January (and the months that follow) feel like a breeze in comparison. I’m still going to indulge and enjoy special occasions, but I’m not going to do so at the expense of the progress I have made.

If anyone has tips/tricks for maintaining/losing during the holidays, I’d love to hear them!
