Went to the doctor yesterday...
I've been commenting for a while but first time posting. This community has helped me a ton so wanted to share some news.
The last time I had my blood checked was 2 years ago. I was showing signs of liver issues (too much drinking), I was way overweight, smoking and all around unhealthy. My doctor asked me to clean myself up and come back in 3 months. I never went back. Too much shame. Instead, I spent most of those two years drinking far too much, still smoking and gaining more weight.
I had done CICO 10 years ago and lost some good weight, so knew that it works and I could follow it.
I started again at the beginning of the year. Weighed myself and fired up MFP again. First 2 weeks, get my diet in order. Week 3 start going to the gym at least 3 times per week. Week 4 quit smoking. Week 5 go to the dreaded doctor appointment.
I am very happy to say that I've so far stuck with the plan (almost. Didn't quit smoking until week 5). I'm down 13 pounds, not smoking (5 days so far) and barely drinking and only on weekends. But best of all, I got my blood work done. Even after abusing my body even more over the past two years, just ONE clean month brought all of my stats in line with "normal". I was blown away. The only thing of note was by B12 was slightly low. I have a follow-up in three months and expect some of my markers that were "high normal" will come down. Also, I have always had high blood pressure. Typically about 160/100. Yesterday, it was 136/85!
I still have ~30 lbs to go but I feel great and have no doubt I will push through this time.
Thank you to everyone on this sub. Your kindness and encouragement to each other is always a motivation for me when I'm feeling a bit down.
Also, thanks for teaching me! Someone posted about the Libra app for android the other day and I really like it. I plugged all of my different weights and times in from this month and it paints a great picture. Very cool!
