Thank you r/loseit for helping me get to onederland. 340 to 198
2.5 years ago I was about 340 pounds (didn’t weigh myself until a month of losing weight) and I was in a bad place physically. Lots of heart burn and knees hurt frequently after a shift. I knew I needed to lose weight and I could see it but it was difficult to start.
When I started grad school I realized how important all domains of health are and that physical health deserves its day in court as well so I started to watch what I eat. I started here at r/loseit and read people’s stories. I tried a bunch of trend diets (whole 30, keto) but really I’ve learned CICO is the best for me long term.
In 2.5 years I have learned so much. I exercise now-looking at starting my training for a sub 2 hour half marathon shortly. I still eat too much at times and now eat too little at times (need to watch as well). It’s not perfect and every day I’m learning but I feel amazing. I always wanted to know what it would feel like to be physically content with myself and I don’t have to wonder it today as I experience it now.
I do appreciate all the vulnerability and encouragement on this sub. I am largely a lurker on reddit but I made a promise if I got under 200 pounds I would post so here I am.
If I can, you can-practice practice practice and compassion goes a long way.
