Advice needed. I’ve signed up for weekly tennis lessons but I’m concerned about how I will be received.

Hi. I’ve been lurking in the r/loseit community for a while but I’ve decided today that I need to connect with people and find support. I’m on mobile and can’t figure out how to set my flair. I’m 41/F; started at 258, currently 251.6, goal of 199.9.

One month ago I started using noom and I’ve slowly lost 6 pounds. I decided to try adding exercise to my life, but I’ve realized I hate the gym. I found tennis lessons for beginners on my local parks & rec site so I signed up for Monday/Wednesday classes for the entire summer.

Classes start next week and I don’t even want to go. I’m so worried that they will take one look at me and try to make the lessons easier or that nobody will want to pair up with me and play. I visited a trainer with my sister this weekend and the trainer took one look at me and said I should probably just do the session with no weights. I put my head down and did the work, but I cried most of the time - I felt so humiliated.

How can I go into this with a positive attitude? What can I do if that happens to keep myself from crying in front of everyone?

One of the reasons I worry is that I live in a more affluent area (I am decidedly not) that has so many skinny, bored housewives. I already don’t fit in here.
