Veteran did first Memorial Day Murph workout since leaving the service.
I got out of the marine corps in 2012 and quickly ballooned up well over 250 (I just stopped looking at 250, I’m sure I was quite a bit higher) due to a whole host of reasons. For anyone who doesn’t know what a Murph is, it’s a workout that consists of: 1 mile run 100 pull ups 200 push ups 300 squats 1 mile run And is named after a medal award winning navy seal. It’s become a bit of a tradition for some people to run it on Memorial Day. This time last year there is no way I would’ve been able to do anything like that. But I’ve been working on getting back in shape. Today I ran it with a few friends on a whim. I had no idea how emotional it was going to make me. Maybe a weird post, but it just really meant a lot to me to be able to do this, to be able to take part in a tradition to honor and remember those who weren’t able to come home and I felt like sharing. Thanks
