Super Dumb Air Fryer Question

I just ordered the Ninja Foodi Grill today. I'm planning to mostly use it to air fry ribeyes for starters. I'm excited, but concerned about my lackluster cooking skills.

I am possibly the world's worst and most inexperienced cook. So, my question:

Do i need to put oil on a steak first (or on the crisper basket) before air frying? Or can I just throw the rare steak in the crisper basket and I'm good to go?
