[NSV] completed one week of CICO, made a favorite breakfast fit in the limit to celebrate!
SW: 270 lbs CW: 265 lbs goal: 175lbs
I just completed my first week of logging everything I eat in MyFitnessPal. I had been nervous to start so I set it to have me eating at a very mild calorie deficit, that would only have me losing .5 lbs a week (I know this is inexact). But yesterday I realized I am pretty easily keeping below that limit so I changed it to 1 lb a week.
I am feeling good because I am successfully finding foods that make me feel full, and other than a couple substitutes that I like just as much as the originals (chickpea pasta, almond crackers) I am eating foods I already enjoyed. The main change is I am eating fruits or veggies with each meal and eating about half as much of other things like pasta and bread and cheese and higher-fat meats (I eat a lot of turkey lunch meat now lol).
Anyway, I decided to see if a favorite breakfast dish I’ve made before fit into my calorie goals, and it does! I just have to adjust the portions. It’s called okonomiyami, it’s a Japanese savory pancake with cabbage and bacon, and all I had to do do differently was make the pancakes half the size the recipe suggests to make a single one (with maple syrup) fit my calorie goal for breakfast.
I’m happy more generally that I’ve been counting calories and rather than feeling stressful or tedious, it is making me rediscover fresh vegetable dishes I like, and appreciate things like fried chicken or cheese more as I take an actual serving size and try to savor it. I’m actually enjoying my food more, which I did not expect!
