would eating meat again actually help me?

i've been vegetarian for about 12ish years now, however 5 years ago i started pulling on weight, going from a bmi of roughly 24 to a bmi of 35/36.

i'm looking into losing weight, and it seems some common advice is to keep to a low carb diet and have a lot of meat, and it manages insulin levels and is more filling than a higher carbohydrate diet.

i also know vegetarian food can be very processed and not good for me, so i am considering eating and removing carbs from my diet, however i don't really want to, is this something that would actually help?

very confused as there are lots of food such as fruits and brown rice/bread which i thought was healthier, but i'm being told to avoid, which obviously leaves needing to eat meat to have a more varied diet
