Used To Hate Running But Ran My First 5k Today!
Hi this is my first post here but I have been lurking for a few months. I'm M20, 5'11", 235 lbs.
I'm down almost 40lbs since starting in August and this morning I ran my first 5k. I have never really ran at all in my life. I used to powerlift and throw for track and I never ran even during practice it was mainly short sprints. I saw a post on here in September about running and it inspired me to run my first ever mile. From there I've started to enjoy running and pushing myself because a huge part or running is mental.
Today was my first official 5k, I've ran 5k a few times but not in a race, my time was 31 minutes which I'm pretty happy with. You don't have to wait until you're skinny or close to your goal to start running. I didn't. I feel like running has a bad stigma associated with it. Beginning to run is so hard in every way but the way you feel after finishing your run is worth it. You can also burn a ton of calories in a short amount of time. I'm hoping atleast 1 person sees this and even considers getting up and running, racing, or even going on a long walk for the first time like I did.
Side note. If you have a dog than it's a lot of fun and great for both of you to run together!
