Keeping it off...
Just to give a bit of background:
So I put on a ton of weight during these trying times and ballooned up to 17st 7 (245lbs). I'm 6ft 3 and a big guy in general who has been involved in strength training for over half of my 40 years.
After a 6 month period of not working out I have started back the last 3 weeks with a lot of heavy bag and shadow boxing training (used to box, love the training) also walking for 50 mins a day and doing some heavy strength training as well. I had to start back training as my mental health was very bad and was suicidal (battled mental health for decades)
So in the last 5 days I have lost 6lbs. I'm basically cutting my calorie intake to 1500 and it's tough. I don't eat breakfast but only because I struggle to eat in the mornings. I have a protein shake for lunch and a large chicken breast for dinner.
And there in lies the problem, my dinner. I have a phobia with certain vegetables and fruit. I can't eat them. I put them in my mouth and I'm gagging and sick. Only fruit and veg I can eat are bananas and potatoes. I get my vitamins from various pills and supplements.
Just eating a dry piece of chicken is killing me. I need more. But I can't figure out a healthy side dish that's low in fat, carbs and calories. I love rice and pasta and they seem the only option but they just ain't good for you. Cous cous is an option but it's so bland that I would need to use some kind of unhealthy sauce to spruce it up.
Does anyone have a similar experience regarding sides and some kind of recommendation that could possible help me in keeping the weight off? I don't feel it's sustainable to keep doing what I'm doing even though I'm getting some serious results (and essentially starving myself)
