Effectiveness of a gym compared to sports

SW: 98kg CW: 97kg TW: 75-80kg 25y/o Male 5'10"/11"

I've been trying to lose weight from a very long time but I don't like going to the gym. I have had gym memberships before and have gone rather consistently for about 3 months but I personally find it to be really boring to just lift weights. I personally like just playing sports and cycling. I go cycling everyday to work (5.5km to and 5.5 from) and I just assumed that this work out is enough but I have not seen any changes in weight at all. I go cycling about 35km once a week too.

So the question is if I should start going to the gym to compensate for my lack of dietary restrictions so far or simply cut down my diet, which is turning out to be way harder than I thought.

Any advice or info on how I can maintain a calorie deficit is appreciated.
