Help with Weightloss and Muscle Building

(I hope such post is allowed. If not, my excuses in advance)
I was wondering if someone could help me out.
I have a bit of a problem, I'm quite an overweight girl, and I really want to change that. been wanting it for years but certain things kept me away from workout out (Health wise and insecurities).
I'm quite an introverted person unfortunately, working out in like groups is nothing for me. I have looked for personal trainers, but they are quite expensive. As I'm also still a college student I have only little to spend which already goes to my membership. What keeps me from training on my own is the fact that I have very little knowledge on the machines, attributes and workouts. So really I'm scared of making a fool of myself even more as people can be very judgemental in the look of someone else. Which bothers me quite as they don't know the reason of why someone can be overweight. There are a lot of reasons. I don't want to lose weight fast because it can cause a lot of very loose skin if I'm right. As I mentioned, I'm a student, and as I live in The Netherlands. Operations as excessive skin only gets compensated by insurance if it endangers health. Which might won't be the problem. But if there are other ways,
