weight loss and diabetes
Hi everyone,
While I'm still at a BMI that's barely considered normal, I'm roughly 13kgs heavier than I like. And I can't get them off. So basically I'm looking for things that have worked for others - cause maybe they'll work for me as well.
I'm a type 1 diabetic, so insulin-dependent. 13kgs may seem like a lot, but I'm 6'2 - unfortunately. What I'm doing rn: I go to the gym twice a week, and go for a run twice a week. I track calories - trying to follow cico - but as I work at a school, it's not always possible to measure things, so mostly it's just estimates. I'm not sure how far off they are.
No matter what I do - I don't lose weight. So something is off, I'm still trying to figure out what it is. During term time, 20:4 works well, in the holidays, I'm going for 16:8. Despite all this: this year alone, I've gained 6kgs. Which sucks. I know that it's not just the number on the scale that counts - but the fit of my clothes confirms this gain, unfortunately.
I'm running out of ideas. Cardio is easier on my glucose levels than weight training, but I've got both mostly under control - at least sufficiently to prevent too low numbers afterwards. Cardio is way easier for that. So I probably should focus less on cardio? Idk...
I'm aiming for 1500 cals. Would that be enough as a 6'2 female? Or too much / too little?
And especially if there's stuff that helps even more with diabetes - I know that insulin is a growth hormone, and doesn't make things easier. At the same time, I know I have to take my insulin - as otherwise I'd die.
I'm just confused, frustrated, and running out of ideas. Maybe someone on here can help?
