Could you help me figure out my mum’s calories?
53, 5’4 / 163 cm, 200 lbs / 91 kg Activity level: ??? (Job: nurse)
My mum wants to lose weight but doesn’t know how or where to start. She has quit smoking about six weeks ago and has gained about 9 lbs / 4 kg since (lots of snacking). She was overweight before quitting smoking.
I’ve been calorie counting since March and have lost about 15 kg, so I recommended it to her. She’s never really calorie counted before but has tried Weight Watchers and intermittent fasting (5:2) with good success (still gained some weight back, though).
However, I’m stumped on how to calculate her calories and macros due to her job (activity level).
She works as a nurse, so 10,000 steps is really her minimum. She’s also quite active on her days off or even after work (more walking but no ‘actual’ workout).
Also, how important are macros in general? I’m following a moderate carb diet due to my pcos and insulin resistance but are macros (especially carbs and fat) that important for an otherwise healthy person?
I hope you can help! Thanks in advance :)
