I'm down 104 lbs from SW after a year!
I've never posted here, but I've lurked off and on for a couple years. I was never brave enough to post when I knew I needed to lose weight (but lacked the motivation to actually get started)
A year ago, I weighed 262 lbs. I was 3 months post partum and I had actually GAINED 20 lbs with late night burgers and constant snacking (breast feeding made me ravenous) I had had a rough year socially and was adjusting to big changes at work and I was honestly not mentally able to think about being healthier. Now I realize that is a stupid excuse: I'm too stressed to look at what I'm eating. . .
It was noted in my chart that I was morbidly obese. That bothered me, but wasn't even what sent me into over drive for motivation. I was visiting my sister and she asked me to try on some unflattering dress, which I complied.
I put it on, stood in front of her mirror and all I saw was belly. I told her I didn't like it and it made me still look pregnant, but she insisted that it looked "sooooooo good" and she thought I didn't look big at all. That's when it all hit me.
It's like when you're looking at a picture of yourself and someone says you look great but it's actually an awful picture and you wonder if you're just an awful looking person. I looked at myself and thought, if this is me looking good, I have a ton of work to do.
I left her house, nearly in tears and went home and immediately joined weight watchers (online only). It's based on CICO but also encourages people to reach for healthier options as the point system isn't strictly calories.
So I started with trying to fit in as much junk as I could each day, which worked and I was able to lose weight, but eventually another light bulb went on that I would rather eat a bit more than save up points for a sugary treat.
I lost about 85 lbs before I decided to start exercising again. I go to the gym everyday, but just go on the elliptical while I watch Netflix or Hulu. I don't go terribly hard, but I also just joined a class this week. I am hoping to lose another 20 lbs by the end of the summer.
