I am NOT a nutritionist or by no means a personal trainer, I am speaking completely from my personal experience and what I have learned along the way, feel free to ask me any questions you may have!

Hello all! Just wanted to share some advice/struggles I have dealt with over the course of my 5/6 MO Weight-loss journey, and give a quick update to anyone that is thinking about starting! I know 108 Pounds is a lot, for such a short amount of time, but let me start off by personally disagreeing with the idea of it being "dangerous" if I lost more than 2 pounds a week or if I lost the weight to fast my skin will not retain elasticity. I believe that if you are getting your daily macros, staying hydrated and exercising there is nothing to worry about. If your body happens to shred the pounds fast, I wouldn't stress about losing 10+ pounds in a week.

So I kicked off my journey doing Keto, I wouldn't personally say it helped in anyway being in a "ketogenic state" I did lose weight very fast in the beginning because I was over 400 pounds. I would say the most beneficial thing that keto taught me was self control. I was VERY strict the first 3 months of my diet. emphasis on the VERY, 0 cheat days, no alcohol, no sugar, 20Grams or less of carbs and NO fast food. With following a strict diet, It helped with a lot of my "Trigger foods" that kept pulling me back from any diet I have ever tried, and that's where I will say Keto has helped me. If you are struggling with binging or food addiction try Keto.

Here's some advice/struggles that I learned on my way: - Figure out your Macros - Set strict guidelines that fit into your macros( I may get a lot of hate for this, but no...I don't believe in cheat days, or rewarding yourself with food, get out of that toxic mindset) FOOD IS NOT A PRIZE ITS A NECESSITY TO LIVE - Stay under a 300 Calorie deficit - Stop eating fast food, if you do have fast food look for the healthier options, this is risky for me because I was WAY TO tempted to order badly. Here's a tip: Order ahead, that way you won't change your mind or be tempted while you are placing your order. - Find a physical activity you enjoy. I fell in love with the gym ADDICTED when I lost weight within the first month, it was such a good feeling to see the scale drop, to see my energy levels change and it put me in such a great mood ( I also suffer from depression, which is another story all on its own) but I became addicted to all of those feelings and will never stop. - Start NOW. There is no "oh let's start on the first or let's start on Monday there is no day like today. I have done the entire diet postpone thing for 6 years, it just sets you up for failure. - Take progress pictures! It's so refreshing to look back and see how much weight you have lost - WANT IT. This is the key, so simple but you have to want it, I mean obviously you want it if you are in this thread but if you are not in the right mind set, or you're doing this weight loss journey for some outlandish reason like a revenge bod or because your friends are doing it, you will fail. - Find support, its so much easier when you are with a friend and you are motivating one another. - ITS NOT A SPRINT, it's a Marathon. You are changing your ENTIRE life from years and years of damage and abuse. It will take longer than a year. This was very hard for me to grasp, being a millennial and wanting instant results made things tough, when I stopped losing weight as fast as I originally was I had stopped eating, entirely for a week I starved myself. I had less then 400 calories a day while going to the gym and doing an hour of cardio and an hour of strength training. It resulted in me not losing ANY weight for 2 weeks and nearly passing out every time i stood up. It took me doing this to myself to realize that it will take time, and that's completely ok. - DON'T forget to enjoy life along the way. I found myself thinking way to much on " oh I will do this when I lose "X" amount of pounds" or "I haven't lost enough weight to enjoy that" just live your best life and be happy. - If you fail, start again.
