Attempted Before, Fizzled Out

Hey /r/loseit

I've attempted to convince myself "I'm actually going to do it this time" before. I think I even made a post about it here. Quickly lost the motivation for it and just stopped trying. Went back to my old ways of just eating whatever I want, however much I wanted, and not bothering to count calories. One day at work I went out on a call with someone and we had to go to the third floor of an office building. He wanted to take the stairs since the elevator was slow. So we did. I was basically sweating at the top, out of breath. Took me about 6 minutes to catch it. When I got home I weighed and found myself at 305. Well above anything I had previously weighed and I hadn't realized I had let it get that bad. Decided to make the change. I've been counting calories for about a month now and I'm finding myself actually excited to end the day under my goal. Past attempts saw counting as a chore and annoying and I hated how restrictive it felt to me. I can tell it's actually different this time. Someone recommended myfitnesspal to me because it makes it easy to keep track of it all. Been doing it through the app for 2 weeks.

So about a month in I'm down 10 pounds and excited to keep going. I've talked with the guy in my office who is very much into fitness and nutrition and explained a (shortened version) of this to him and how I wanted to improve. There's a new gym opening in our town in September and he said he would help me learn how to exercise right without hurting myself, and getting the most out of my workout. I'm looking forward to it.

So this probably eneded up way too long, so TL;DR: I'm actually doing it this time guys. Encouragement/advice/support welcomed.
