I Do Not Like Food Item X So Why Would I Eat It? It's Not About Punishment.
Lets face it. Real talk. We have all have tried foods we never liked in life. Even before we started to get healthy and change what we consume we were still shovelling back things to try and did not like. Me? Mushrooms. Pineapple. Olives. Just a small sample of things I have tried many times over the years and just can not get behind consuming no matter what. So back in the day I simply avoided these foods.
So now that I have changed how I eat and eat healthier and better why would I start? Too often here on r/loseit post get put up by people talking about how they hate things like kale, peppers, apples, eggs, beef etc etc. Yet the post is ranting about HAVING TO eat these things they detest in order to lose weight.
But why? What we do to get healthier and change things is about a healthy long term plan that is sustainable for success in the rest of our lives. So eating a diet of junk we do not like is not really going to help with that plan is it?
That being said I also see the dreaded "I hate all vegetables they are so bland" quite often as well. But that we can work with. Thankfully the world invented spices and sauces so we can season and improve the taste of just about anything. I get not like some veggies as I know I hate some but the ones I like I keep exciting and new by adding cajun, salt, pepper, siracha etc.
So next time you want to shovel in that plate of kale salad and you really hate kale.... DONT. Find a leafy green you like. About to eat that can of tuna and hate tuna? DONT. Eat the foods that you enjoy that are healthier and fit better into your plan. This journey is not about punishing ourselves or doing things we do not particularly enjoy. We shouldn't eat so were unhappy or exercise ourselves into oblivion.
At the end of the day what we are doing is about healthy, sustainable long term solutions. Make sure to remind yourself about that next time you want to do something you "hate" on this journey.
Happy Sunday All!
